privacy, in plain words.

your words are yours. this page is the long version of that promise — written so you can actually read it.

1. what we collect

when you create an account

• your email address (so we can sign you in)
• a password, stored as a one-way hash by Supabase (we can never see it)
• your name, if you choose to share it — used only to greet you
• a profile picture, if you upload one
• your timezone, detected from your browser, so we show the right local time

when you use the app

• your journal entries — saved to your account so they follow you across devices
• conversations with the AI companion — held in the moment and not archived for browsing; if you ever ask to share a summary with a professional, that summary is saved only after you press send
• your timezone and locale, to render the right time of day
• basic system info: which pages you visit on the site, which buttons you tap — only what's needed to keep the app reliable

when you ask to be referred to a clinic

• the summary you've reviewed and approved
• your name and phone number (only if you provide them on the form)
• your preferred clinic, if you selected one

2. what we never do

• we don't sell your data. not to advertisers, not to anyone.
• we don't share your conversations, journals, or shared-summary content with anyone you didn't choose to share with
• we don't use your conversations to train external AI models
• we don't display ads

3. where your data lives

your data is stored with our infrastructure providers:

• Supabase (Mumbai, India region) — accounts, profile, journal, and share requests
• Anthropic (US/EU) — the AI companion runs on Anthropic's Claude. when you chat, your message is sent to Anthropic to generate a reply, and is not retained by them for training (per their commercial terms)
• Vercel — serves the website. standard server logs are retained for up to 30 days for reliability/security only

4. your rights

• see your data. email support@speaksafe.space and we'll send a complete export
• delete your data. you can permanently delete your account — and all the data linked to it — from your profile, or by emailing the address above
• correct your data. edit your name, picture, and timezone any time from the edit profile screen
• opt out of sharing. the "share with a professional" button is always voluntary. nothing is sent until you press it

5. who can see what

we use row-level security on every piece of personal data. concretely:

• only you can read your profile, journal, conversations, and any share request you've created
• only the clinic you've nominated (and our limited support staff, if needed for triage) can see a share request you explicitly submitted to them
• no clinic, doctor, therapist, or admin can see your journal or chat history under any circumstance
• our verified founder + ops staff have admin access for safety and reliability (they cannot read journal/chat content)

6. cookies + analytics

we use a small number of strictly-necessary cookies — Supabase auth tokens to keep you signed in — and a single local-storage entry for your display name. we don't run third-party analytics, and we don't use ad cookies.

7. minors

SpeakSafe is open to everyone — there is no minimum age. mental health doesn't see an age, and we don't either. but anyone under 18 gets extra care:

• under 13: please involve a parent or trusted adult in your account. they should know it exists and review what you share. by signing up, the parent/guardian is treated as having consented.
• 13–17: you can sign up on your own. we'll show child-specific helplines and softer language by default. you can name a trusted adult so we can reach them if you ever want help.
• safety features for minors: the AI uses extra-gentle, kid-appropriate language; we pin Childline India 1098 on every page; bullying / unsafe-home / online-threats chips appear in the chat; and we never ask a minor for sensitive personal details.

if you're a teen and don't feel safe telling a parent about this account, that is also okay. you can still reach Childline India: 1098 any time, any day — free and confidential.

8. changes to this policy

if anything material changes, we'll tell you on the homepage and email you before it takes effect. small wording/clarity fixes might happen quietly — the date at the bottom of this page is always current.
